World War I ruined Germany. After the nifty War, much of Europe was scarred from the bloody battles and heavy triggerman strikes. Since Germany lost the war, the allied powers placed the blame solely on the Germans. In 1919, the Treaty of Versailles not only restricted the German army from growing, but it also took a port the lands they gained and made them hand for the damages of war. The Germans had to pay nearly $30 billion dollars in todays money. This led to hyper-inflation which eventually led to depression.
